Bistro Roca for fancy atmosphere + Mac and cheese Enjoy your trip, you are truly in one of the most special, most precious, and most beautiful places in the entire country If you’re willing to go out towards Blowing Rock there’s some cool stuff there as well (including hiking to Blowing Rock). The antique mall is a fun place and there are many cool shops and great restaurants as well. In Boone I encourage you to just walk down King street for a few blocks and check out the shops. Literally the tallest mountain in this side of the US, highest elevation this side of the Mississippi, and with the most breathtaking views imaginable.ĭefinitely mess around in Banner Elk it’s beautiful, there’s some great food, and wonderful walks/hikes. It’s a fair bit out of the ways but if you’re not in the area very often it is 110% worth the drive to Mount Mitchell State Park. Some of the most incredible views I’ve ever seen are along the portion from Julian price memorial to linville falls. Flat rock trailhead (near Linville) is one of my favorite short hikes and I’d check out Grandfather Mountain while you’re there. You also need to drive maybe a dozen or two miles along the blue ridge parkway and stop at some of the overlooks and trailheads. For more naturey stuff Elk River Falls in Elk Park is a must. ![]()
